  • NATURE WALK

    Join this EASY level walk to enjoy and learn about the natural life in the area.

    Hike starts at The Rose and ends at Snake Creek.

    Led by Lara Chho, master naturalist, this walk weaves through the meadows and trees. Slight elevation gain, with plenty of time to rest, learn, talk, take photos and enjoy the surroundings.

    START: 10am at the Green Gate

    END: 11:30am at Snake Creek Lodge

    PREPARE: Walking shoes, hat, water bottle, sunscreen

    DIFFICULTY: All abilities trail - for anyone who can walk at elevation at a moderate pace

    SIGN UP AT THE INFORMATION STATION IN ADVANCE

    MORE INFO: Lara will share details on the local ecology, plant and wildlife, and you can expect to see numerous alpine wildflowers along the way.

    Bring your curiousity and your camera! Fine for kids (and adults) who can walk the distance with stops along the way!

  • The YURT HIKE (Majestic Lift Summit)

    Join this MODERATE hike from The Rose going up to the Yurt at the top of Majestic Ski Life, and ending at Snake Creek Lodge.

    Led by Amy Conn, Survivor Wellness staff, this hike departs immediately after Amy teaches the 9:30am Yoga wellness warm-up.

    START: 10am at the Green Gate

    END: 11:45am/12pm at Snake Creek Lodge

    PREPARE: Walking shoes, water bottle, hat, sunscreen

    DIFFICULTY: Moderate - uphill and downhill travel

    SIGN UP AT THE INFORMATION STATION IN ADVANCE

    MORE INFO: Travel along the trail to Lake Mary, then turn off to reach the top of Majestic Lift, passing through alpine meadows (and part of the Frisbee Golf course) before arriving at the Yurt.

    At the Yurt, enjoy a rest and a snack, refill your water bottle, and take in the views - it’s a great spot for photos with your Tribute Flags.

    Travel downhill to Snake Creek via more meadows and dirt paths to join the crowd at the main Tribute Flag display for the rest of the event.

  • LAKE MARY HIKE

    Hike to beautiful LAKE MARY with Dea Nelson of Wasatch Mountain Club!

    This is a moderate level hike, and requires sturdy walking shoes and ability to hike for over 2 hours at elevation over a variety of terrain. Great views, plenty to enjoy as you make your way up to this beautiful alpine lake! A classic Brighton Hike!

    START: 9am at the Green Gate

    END: by 12pm at Snake Creek Lodge

    DISTANCE: 2.3 miles out and back

    PREPARE: Sturdy hiking shoes/boots, water bottle, hat, sunscreen, etc.

    DIFFICULTY: Moderate to difficult - for those in good physical condition. Not for beginners.

    MORE INFO: This popular trail leads to a sub-alpine lake known for fishing, hiking and running, so you’ll likely encounter other people while exploring. Stunning lake views and abundant wildlife are highlights of this trail. Challenges include steeper inclines and slippery or wet footing.

  • MT. MILLICENT HIKE

    Hike to the summit of Mt. Millicent with Julie Kilgore and members of the Wasatch Mountain Club!

    Join this hike if you’re up to an exciting (but non-technical) challenge that will take you to the top of a 10k-foot summit with amazing views of the Brighton lakes, and the vast expanse of peaks and ridges of the Wasatch and beyond.

    START: 8:30am at the Green Gate

    END: 11:45am/12noon at Snake Creek

    Length: 4 miles round trip

    Elevation gain-1,700 ft

    Summit elevation- 10,452 ft

    PREPARE: Hiking boots, backpack, plenty of water/snacks, hat, sunscreen, etc. See WMC website for details on the 10 Hiking Essentials.

    DIFFICULTY: Difficult/challenging - for experienced hikers only (listed as “moderate” for members of WMC, who hike regularly at elevation)

    MORE INFO: Mount Millicent is the stunning peak that rises above the west end of Brighton Ski Resort, overlooking Silver Lake Nature Trail. The hike offers panoramic views of the Brighton area, including Brighton lakes and Mount Wolverine. The ascent involves steep sections and scrambling, particularly over talus (boulder) fields near the summit. The peak is composed of granodiorite. Mount Millicent reaches an elevation of 10,452 feet; the summit rises 1,700 feet above Brighton within a mile.
